Judge Blocks Arkansas Ban on Medical Care for Transgender Kids (1)

A federal district judge blocked an Arkansas law that prohibits doctors and other health-care professionals from providing or referring transgender minors for gender-affirming care.

The American Civil Liberties Union, which filed a challenge to the law on behalf of four transgender youth and their families, confirmed the judge issued a decision from the bench on Wednesday. The measure was set to take effect July 28.

The law bars state and local funds from going to doctors who provide people under the age of 18 with gender-affirming care. It also allows private insurance companies to deny coverage for gender transition procedures, ...
