EPA, DOJ Propose $27.7 Million Ohio Superfund Site Cleanup

Seven potentially responsible parties would be required to clean up contamination at the Tremont City Barrel Fill Superfund site in Ohio for an estimated $27.7 million under a proposed consent decree, the EPA and Department of Justice announced Thursday.

A complaint filed with the proposed consent decree in the District Court for the Southern District of Ohio alleges that Chemical Waste Management Inc., Franklin International Inc., International Paper Co., the Procter & Gamble Co., PPG Industries Inc., Strebor Inc., and Worthington Cylinder Corp. are liable for the cleanup because they were former owners and operators of the barrel fill ...
