Valero, Contractors Face $1.75 Million Fine for Worker’s Death

A Valero Energy Corp. subsidiary and three contractors face safety fines totaling $1.75 million following a California state investigation into the death of worker at Valero’s refinery in Benicia, Calif.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health proposed that Valero Refining Co., headquartered in San Antonio, be penalized $535,374.

The agency also proposed that Total Safety US Inc. of Pasadena, Texas pay a $988,000 fine; J.T. Thorpe & Son Inc. of Richmond, Calif., a $141,125 fine; and T.R.S.C. Inc. of Vallejo, Calif., a $101,125 fine.
