FDA’s Marks Stands Firm on 50% Efficacy Standard for Covid Shots

The FDA isn’t lowering its efficacy standard for Covid-19 shots, the agency’s top vaccine regulator said Tuesday while acknowledging they may be less effective for some groups such as kids.

“Overall, the vaccines have to be at least 50% effective. And we will maintain that standard. We will maintain the standard we need for safety follow up,” Peter Marks, director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research in the Food and Drug Administration, said.
